Lead Software Engineer (w/m/d)

eSquirrel is a multiple award-winning teaching and learning companion and one of the most exciting EdTech startups in the German-speaking world. That’s not our claim alone, but also the jurors of GESA, the Global EdTech Startup Awards, whose DACH final we just won. Therefore, we would like to grow further and need a Lead Software Engineer, who will drive the further development of our platform in consultation with our CTO in a growing team.

Your profile

• Personal responsibility and teamwork are a given for you
• Quality and maintainability of your code are important to you
• UX is not a foreign word to you
• You have 5+ years of experience in backend and frontend development and are proficient in
  • Java/Kotlin (preferably incl Spring Boot, Hibernate/jOOQ)
  • PostgreSQL (or comparable database)
  • TypeScript with React (incl HTML, CSS, Javascript, possibly AngularJS)
  • Heroku/AWS (or comparable PaaS/IaaS Clouds incl Monitoring, Message Queues, Multi-tenancy, Error Reporting)
• You have worked in a SCRUM/Kanban environment and enjoy it. Any certificates (e.g., Professional Scrum Developer) are an advantage.
• You are interested in native Android and iOS apps. Maybe you have even developed one before? Knowledge in Android (Kotlin, Java, Android SDK) / iOS (Swift, XCode) is an advantage.

Your tasks

• Leading all stages of product development – from conception to live operation
• Implementing new features in an agile environment
• Increasing quality and stability by writing automated tests and improving existing processes
• Technical lead for (Junior) Software Engineers
• IT consultant for the team and customers incl topics such as security or privacy
• Continuous development of the eSquirrel platform in Java/Kotlin and TypeScript/React
